High Desert Medical Group Delivers Barrels of Love

HDMG Generously Donates to Grace Resources and Painted Turtle Camp

LANCASTER, CA. Two Antelope Valley non-profits recently benefited from the largess of High Desert Medical Group & Heritage Health Care. Grace Resources and the Painted Turtle Camp were each gifted with cash and/or needed supplies for their clientele.

HDMG’s recent “Life Festival” added a “Barrels of Love” feature that encouraged employees and the general public to donate everyday essentials for moms, kids and babies served by Grace Resources. From toothpaste to diapers, the barrels were overflowing with contributions. Adding to the generosity were cash contributions from Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris and Brian and Nancy Smith. The products and cash contributions were valued at about $3,500.00, so HDMG matched that amount with an additional $3,500.00. Dr. Don Parazo, Associate Medical Director, presented the check and personal care items to Grace Resources Executive Director, Steve Baker.

Across town, Jane Frye, HDMG’s Director of Urgent Care, donated nearly $5,000.00 of medications and medical supplies to Dr. Gina M. Jansheski, the medical director of the Painted Turtle camp. Painted Turtle serves children with serious medical conditions in an environment of fun and celebration. Kids suffering some 30 medical conditions visit the camp each year, under careful supervision. The camp, a member of Paul Newman’s renowned Serious Fun Camps, has been receiving donations from High Desert Medical Group for 9 years. HDMG’s administrator, Rafael Gonzalez, said, “it’s a pleasure to donate to the happiness of the Painted Turtle campers where children with medical disabilities can pursue the joy of just being a kid!” The gift-giving occasion marked the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Painted Turtle.
